Commodity Buyer (P3)
This role is mainly responsible for new supplier development, suppliers’ commercial negotiation for the Controls’ Direct Material commodities in China and working with the suppliers for improvement plan to meet the overall business requirement (like cost, delivery etc).
What you will Do
Develop key suppliers, improving non-performing suppliers and exploring new suppliers for untapped opportunities in alignment with the strategy
Accountable from High Cost Countries to Asia with successful addressing deflation, cost, quality, fulfillment requirements.
Manage commercial negotiations of suppliers in Asia, including terms & conditions, warranty, price, discount, warehousing, and delivery
Manage delivery of suppliers in Asia
Perform ongoing monitoring of direct material suppliers, evaluating financial stability, service, delivery history, quality issues, etc.
Conduct routine supplier reputation/compliance to protect intellectual property and compliance
Interact with NPI design engineering to evaluate the component suppliers for best ones to use.
Ensure NPI /project delivery deadlines are met. Work with suppliers to expedite parts or evaluate new suppliers if standard lead times cannot be met
Project management of sourcing initiatives including engaging engineering for requirements, global RFQ following strategic sourcing methodology, partnering supplier quality, engineering & supplier for qualification and managing HQ fulfillment team during cut in and blend management. Tracking project progress, anticipating bottlenecks and escalating to leadership when required
What you need to Succeed
Know the technology, materials, trends, negotiations, market, competition
3+ year global strategic as well as tactical sourcing experience
Demonstrate proficiency in supplier identification and development, ability to negotiate and manage supplier using good sourcing tools and processes
Strong propensity for excelling in a demanding environment
Rich experience with principles and procedures related to contract terms and conditions
Strong PC, Microsoft access, Data warehouse and production planning experience.
Excellent bi-lingual (Chinese & English) written and verbal communication skills required.
Flexible on traveling and working with partial US time zone.
A deep understanding of the industry, cross business supplier strategy, understanding GEA Product requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrate flexibility of thought or process to reflect global diversity & difference, embrace different personality, working style and culture.
