Yard Operations Analyst

The Challenge

The Yard Operations Analyst is responsible for the overall operations and activities of the GE Appliance Park Yard, including optimizing incoming and outgoing traffic flows by finding opportunities and executing improvements. This includes working with the Gate 3 Staff (security and clerical roles), Plant Materials Leaders, Distribution teams, Spotting Vendors, and PE&SO teams to ensure the yard is organized and that all systems accurately reflect containers and their locations in the yard. The Yard Operations Analyst works closely with TrackX (our YMS provider) and serves as the Appliance Park expert on the tool’s usage, maintenance, and future potential upgrades or improvements.

What you will Do

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute programs to improve organization and traffic flow within the yard by developing comprehensive Yard Accuracy metrics and drive teams to reach 95%+.

  • Identify new processes and work with the GEA team to create control plans and SOPs that will reduce trailer dwell times and reduce total park detention costs.

  • Identify needed facilities or lot improvements and work alongside the plant, distribution, and facilities team to implement.

  • Serve as a daily contact for Appliance Park relating to any trailer location/accuracy issues and TrackX Software/Hardware troubleshooting.

  • Collect data from all parties and distribute weekly reports on yard accuracy, dwell times, detention rates, and other KPIs.

  • Lead regular meetings on Yard metrics and provide status updates on any projects or improvements.

  • Find and escalate training opportunities and conduct training where necessary to correct issues.

  • Develop a continuous training plan for all GEA TrackX users.

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of three years of relevant work experience

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience

  • Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to effectively communicate across all functions to management, peers, team, and customers.

  • Process focused and has proven record of resolving issues in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrates Clear Thinking and External Focus

  • Strong inclusive leadership skills are a must, for both external customer and internal team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in warehousing, transportation, or logistics

  • Previous experience in developing and working from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)

  • Proficient in MS Excel, and Web Based applications

  • Views changes in our internal and external processes as an opportunity to grow and improve

  • Capable of multi-tasking and providing strong attention to detail
