Test & Quality Improvement Engineer (2nd Shift)
As a Test & Quality Improvement Engineer, you'll work to facilitate sustaining change execution with updates to manufacturing quality and test engineering equipment and associated documentation (manufacturing control plans, manufacturing control instructions, etc.)
You'll collaborate with Test AME, technology and manufacturing on the design specifications of new test equipment and oversee the installation to ensure design intent, takt time, and waste minimization initiatives are preserved. Work to support assembly yield targets by minimizing test process line disruptions, which may result from adverse interactions with material(s), operator(s), or information used to sense and signal processes.
Head internal audit(s) and quality management system processes in accordance to the Quality Management System leader. Assist the 2nd Shift Manufacturing Quality Floor Leader in the Quality Auditor resource allocation and time-card approval processes
What you will Do
Manage AP1 Laundry Manufacturing Quality and Test Engineering equipment:
Perform or facilitate calibration and preventative maintenance activities to maintain schedule adherence
Maintain spare equipment inventory
Test engineering equipment includes but is not limited to: DC Torque Guns, Printed Circuit Board Writing and Flashing (Back Splash Test Trolleys), Safety & Functional Unit Testing (End of Line Test Trolleys), and End of Line Audit Hipot Testers
Execute continuous improvement activities for the Manufacturing Quality and Test Engineering processes
Improvement activities may include: lean immersions, test sequence variations, and process changes that result in waste reduction
Administer the Manufacturing Quality product information reporting, which includes:
First Pass Yield
Scanning and Signaling (photoeyes, proximity switches, etc.) deployed for process sequencing, count data, and part genealogy
End of Line Audit(s) Defect Rates and Sampling: EOLA, Ship Test, etc.
Dynamic and Residual Torque data
What you need to Succeed
Minimum 2 years' experience in a high-volume manufacturing/operation or quality role.
BS Technical Degree or equivalent experience.
Computer literate and skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Auto Cad, and Outlook.
Ability to work within large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and shop floor operators / skilled trades team members).
Experience in development or sustaining of instrumented electromechanical equipment.
Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills Technical Degree or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Six Sigma Certified
Quality Leadership experience
Lean Manufacturing experience
Experience in appliance or similar high-volume manufacturing processes
Primary working hours coincide with 2nd shift production (4:01 p.m. – 12:31 a.m.) and occasional off-hour work or evening teleconferences to help troubleshoot equipment issues
Majority of time is spent on the factory floor.
