The Challenge

The Senior Manager – Technical Controller is a senior accounting professional responsible for coordination with business on technical issues, review and evaluation of new accounting standards, including its impact to external financial statements and serves as the liaison with internal and external audit teams on accounting application matters.

What you will Do

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Business Finance, Legal and HR on determining proper accounting on technical issues and appropriately document Business positions on these matters in accounting memorandums.

  • Review accounting positions with the CFO and Controller where required.

  • Proactive evaluation on potential impact of any proposed US GAAP accounting standards

  • Lead implementations/trainings related to new Business requirements resulting from new accounting rules/disclosures.

  • Provides input to Closing & Reporting Controllership team on changes to annual external financial statements and footnotes.

  • Serve as the primary contact with Appliances Internal Audit and External Audit on accounting questions

  • Evaluate and coordinate any differences between US GAAP, PRC and IFRS accounting that would be required in the Business submission to Haier Corporate and its external auditors

  • Prepare/review certain Accounting and Supplemental Data Requests on a quarterly and/or annual basis that support external reporting where needed.

  • Assist the Global Business Controller with any Board and Senior Management related reviews and ad-hoc requests support external reporting where needed.

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Accounting and CPA license

  • Extensive manager experience with a public accounting firm of national repute and/or industry experience with large multi-national firm

  • Proven technical accounting expertise, including a thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP

  • Proven management and organizational experience, including coordinating multiple people/projects simultaneously

  • Strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to influence peers and leadership team

  • Experience with Oracle and Hyperion; proficient with Microsoft Office products

  • Working knowledge of IFRS, including similarities/differences with U.S. GAAP
