Supplier Quality Engineer - Controls, Electromechanical Devices (EMD) – Switches and Thermostats
Own 9-Step Proactive Engineering Production Process for EMD components which includes identification, communication and manufacturing control of commodity Critical Part Characteristics (CPC’s) for New Product Introduction (NPI), C-Change and current production for assigned parts.
What you will Do
Own all aspects of supplier relationships that impact the Cost of Quality (COQ) to GE, for suppliers of EMD components and assemblies as assigned. This includes initial selection and certification of suppliers, continuous ownership, maintenance, and development throughout the life-cycle of the supplier, and cross-functional support for all related programs.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, on schedule, with perfect quality through development of an implementation plan for assigned parts.
Deliver on Material Cost Takeout (MCTO) productivity goals by leading and supporting projects involving supplier moves and process, material or design changes.
Drive permanent resolution of manufacturing issues (PPM rejects) using 8D methodology.
Lead Supplier Quality initiatives, support Supplier Responsibility Guideline program (SRG) and develop activities to fix-or-exit problematic suppliers by implementing robust corrective actions or qualifying alternate suppliers.
Champion the use of quality tools, Supplier Composite Scorecard and other data to identify and drive quality projects across all suppliers resulting in the overall improvement of supplier value to GE (Delivery, quality, cost).
*Complete SCAR’s, business surveys, First-Piece Inspection Reports and supplier quality audits as assigned.
Technical Bachelors degree required.
Minimum 2 years Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality or Engineering Technology experience.
Ability to understand electrical and mechanical functions of a variety of EMD components as well as their contribution within product systems.
Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical drawings, process flow maps and control plans.
Demonstrated knowledge of quality tools for process and product controls, such as: SPC, Poke Yoke, Process gauging and controls, Process Capability, Process FMEA, and DOE.

- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 10% to 20%, occasionally with little notice.
What you need to Succeed
BSEE or BSME degree preferred.
Six Sigma Black Belt Certified.
Desire to influence and drive change with cross functional team members, and at all levels of the organization.
Ability to simplify complex information and concisely prepare both verbal and written executive summaries to Leadership.
Proven strong problem solving and collaborative skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Supplier Quality strategies cross-functionally and globally.
Demonstrated Lean experience.
