The Challenge

As the Sr. Manager, Materials, you'll guide the Material Control team in maintaining inventory levels throughout the AP1 plant for the operation. You'll work to develop the long term strategy to improve and maintain on hand inventory, delivery schedule, storage, and trailer rental while being a key element on the implementation of all the material flow initiatives.

What you will Do

  • Lead daily part inventory coverage and supply chain reviews. Evaluate potential gaps in production. Devise alternative plans when gaps arise.

  • Provide training to plant/ materials personnel on materials best practices

  • Provide oversight / coordination for work transfers and NPI's , leading the balance out and C-Change efforts

  • Work to reduce plant inventories

  • Lead team on safety and lean pack modifications

  • Work with quality team to ensure proper inventory coverage when parts are rejected from working inventory.

  • Improve material availability to support production and customer requirements through corrective actions for availability issues, improved supplier response times, transportation planning and inventory management.

  • Manage respective transportation and logistics costs to reduce inventory and drive year over year productivity.

  • Support plant/product variable cost and lean productivity initiatives

  • Review Oracle requirements, LOB’s, plant inventories for discrepancies and issues.

What you need to Succeed

Required :

  • Technical BS/BA degree or equivalent

  • Experience building, empowering, and leading talented cross-functional teams.

  • Track record of driving operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage, and implement aggressive project plans.

  • Experience applying Lean tools and processes

  • Proven ability to communicate complex matters in a simple, understandable format.

  • Ability to build and promote organizational change management initiatives valuing relationships, building idea/problem-solving culture.

Preferred :

  • Prior Lean implementation experience

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Green Belt Six Sigma Certification

  • Oracle knowledge

  • Proven ability to challenge the status quo

  • Vision and courage to pursue big ideas, encourage smart experimentation.

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.

  • Recognized and established manufacturing shop experience preferred.

  • Results oriented
