Senior Technical Manufacturing Trainer

The Challenge

The Senior Technical Manufacturing Trainer will develop training for the GE Appliances Supply Chain organization. The training will target multiple audiences and focus on building technical manufacturing skills and capability in a variety of areas including maintenance, engineering, and robotics. This role will also implement a strategic program and certification structure, develop and facilitate training leveraging internal knowledge and external learning institutions, and evaluate the efficacy of the training programs.

What you will Do

Lead training and skill development for all manufacturing technical functions, including Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Plant Manufacturing Engineering, Process Improvement Engineering, Skilled Trades, EHS Maintenance and Equipment Operation.

  • Buildtechnical trainingpaths linked to competenciesfor all GE Appliance manufacturing sites.

  • Conduct needs analysiswith stakeholderson an ongoing basis to define technical training needs within Supply Chainandto identify knowledge/skill gaps.

  • Oversee the Maintenance Learning Council.

  • Identify and standardize the best curriculum design andadultlearning techniques to deliver programsand certificationsthat meet technical training needs in a timely and cost-effective manner across the organization.

  • Leverage the enterprise evaluation tools toevaluate the impact and effectiveness of technical training programs,proving business impact.

  • Manage EHS Maintenance Trainer; set the calendar schedule, ensure training is compliant and on schedule.

Develop training curriculum and conduct reporting for all manufacturing technical functions.

  • Research and oversee theoutline ofcourseobjectives and blended learning solutions for each training.

  • Build relationships with technical training vendorsand equipment specialists(both internal and external) and partner in thedesignoftraining programs and ensure course objectives are directly associated with course content, job requirements, job accountabilities,and certification exams/assessments.

  • Maintain and updatetechnical trainingcourse catalogin partnership with Manufacturing Learning Management System Admin.

  • Leverage the LMS to maintain records of all technical training programs/participants with related personnel information, participation, and scores creating a quarterly dashboard; provide additionalreports when required.

  • Identify and manage local, state and federal grants for Supply Chain training activities.

Develop and cultivate the pipeline of talent in maintenance skilled trades through management of the Maintenance Apprentice Program (MAP) and KYFAME.

  • Track progress and completion of all individuals participating in the MAP and FAME programs. Manage performance, evaluate effectiveness of assignments, coach and track completion requirements.

  • Support the mentors through coaching and assignment of mentees.

Own the layout, planning and upkeep of the Training Center Laboratory using 5S.

  • Specify, quote, install, and maintain all equipment related to training in lab

  • Maintain lab equipment includingAmatrolAC/DC motors,hydraulics, pneumatics, robots, welding,and brazingtools.

  • Train-the-trainer to ensure external learning vendors are maintaining space after events.

  • Ensure safety requirement and housekeeping for training lab area.

Other related duties.

  • Support new employee selection and orientation programs with manufacturing-specific activities, laboratory demos,and programs as needed.

  • Source and implement new learning technologies to provide a consistent experience across GE Appliance locations.

  • Remain current on developments in technical training and instructional methodologies. Continuously develop technical knowledgeand Connect to Moreby benchmarking best practices, utilizing Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) resourcesand the Association of Talent Development (ATD), attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, etc.

  • Represent GE Appliances in the technical learning and development community.

  • Aid in external workforce development training when needed.

  • Serve on the Supply Chain Learning Council, representing the continuous technical learning of the organization.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical/manufacturing experience.

  • 5years of progressive experience within a manufacturing environment, including experience in technical curriculum development and delivery.

  • Demonstrated planning and project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degreeor CPLP certification (Certified Professional in Learning & Performance)

  • Experience working in a union environment.

  • Experience in distance learning technologies, Learning Management Systems,and eLearning design.

  • Over 10 years of progressive experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably with hands-on experience in the manufacturing of home appliances.

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal forbothan officeandmanufacturing environment.

  • Work may involve lifting of materials and productup to25pounds.

  • Working in the manufacturingenvironment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to:safety glasses, hearing protection,gloves,workshoes/boots.

  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

  • Up to30%travel requiredfordomestic travel to plantssites.
