Senior Design Engineer
This opportunity is for a Senior Engineer for the Ice and Water Center of Excellence within Refrigeration. This is a hands-on filtration engineering position within the Refrigeration Technology group specializing in the implementation of new filtration products. The Engineer will design, prototype, document, test and evaluate various filters and interfaces to deliver a cost-effective, reliable product. Primary focus will be on the execution of supplier/factory transitions for refrigerator filters to ensure a robust supply chain is in place that is flexible enough to overcome various external factors such as supply disruptions and newly imposed tariffs. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for advanced development of carbon block technologies and the strategy for small and large-scale manufacturing of these technologies.
What you will Do
Responsible for the evaluation and execution of filtration new product introductions ensuring that all qualification requirements are met on the required internal and external timelines.
Coordinate third party certifications and ensure that all regulatory requirements are met for the new product launches.
Analyze testing failures through FRACAS reporting to ensure robust filter designs and manufacturing processes
Investigate advanced carbon block technologies and develop the manufacturing techniques necessary to make these technologies viable for production.
Use DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) and DFR (Design for Reliability) methodology to prove and implement new and modified designs.
Develop Intellectual Property around filtration interfaces
Develop and revise Engineering Test Procedures, Standing Instructions, and Design Guides.
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
Previous design engineering and project management experience.
Self-starting leader with 7 or more years of engineering experience or equivalent with excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a global environment and participate in global conference calls during flexible times (21:00-24:00 Eastern Time Zone)
Ability to travel to filtration production facilities and suppliers (Approximately 10-25% of time).
Demonstrated ability to work multiple design options in parallel.
Advanced computer skills - high proficiency in Microsoft products and ability to grasp new systems quickly.
Strong analytical/problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to scope and analyze cross-functional problems to generate/implement solutions.
What you need to Succeed
5-7 years of Ice and Water component design experience (Filtration, Icemaking, Water Valve Design).
Certified Reliability Engineering or other quality certification.
Proven ability to influence and drive change and implement NPIs into factories.
Proficient in FEA and using Pro Engineer or equivalent industry modeling.
Demonstrated ability to electronically instrument tests to record data to meet project development needs.
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and be capable of performing tolerance stack up calculations.
