Senior Design Engineer-Refrigeration
This opportunity is for an Innovative Senior Design Engineer within the Refrigeration Structures COE team. This is a hands-on Technology engineering position specializing in the design and development of a new refrigerator platform. The engineer will be involved in design, prototyping, documentation, testing and evaluation of our next generation refrigerators manufactured across the globe.
What you will Do
Design a new Top-Mount Refrigerator product while optimize energy efficiency, performance, reliability, product safety, and cost.
Provide Leadership on a cross functional program implementation team
Ensure manufacturability of component and subsystem designs.
Baseline and study competitor designs and product performance.
Guide refrigerator laboratory personnel during evaluation of the new design.
Guide factory process and equipment planning to ensure product safety, performance and reliability expectations are met.
Understand and navigate the patent landscape regarding refrigerator technologies.
Provide leadership in understanding of industry standards and specifications with regard to conformance, codes, methods and performance related tests.
Work within a cross functional group of engineering, marketing, sales, quality, sourcing and manufacturing to develop specifications for new innovative products and guide strategic technical direction.
Own and maintain design documentation and performance transfer functions for your concepts and prototypes.
What you need to Succeed
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
Minimum 7 years of experience in product design and development.
Self-starter with solid written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated problem solving skills with a passion for learning.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional global organization.
Fluent use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word software packages.
Working knowledge of computer-aided design software and drawing standards.
Regional travel required up to 25% with more extensive and longer periods of travel around critical program milestones.
Ability to design, build, and execute a test plan and clearly present data to a diverse group and openly debate technical issues
Ability to work multiple design options in parallel and use engineering logic to narrow selection to optimum design.
Understanding of quality control procedures
MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
7+ years experience in product design and development.
7+ year design experience working within consumer refrigeration design
Experience designing parts with Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Unigraphics NX, or other computer aided software.
