Senior Consumer Insights Specialist

The Challenge

The Senior Consumer Insights Specialist will lead the consumer learning agenda for assigned brands and/or product lines. They will work collaboratively with Brand Marketing, Product Management, Industrial Design and others to develop brand and innovation strategy that is grounded in consumer understanding. This individual will report into the Sr. Director, Consumer & Market Insights.

What you will Do

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the consumer learning agenda to address business objectives

  • Collect, analyze and synthesize consumer learning to tell a cohesive and actionable story

  • Execute primary research, and source syndicated and marketplace data when relevant

  • Provide Consumer Insight leadership with cross-functional teams, providing strategic partnership with Brand Marketing, Product Management, Industrial Design, Sales, insights suppliers, agencies, and consultants

  • Demonstrate holistic thinking, strategic agility, and leadership with all levels of the organization

  • Manage external suppliers to execute research projects efficiently

  • Effectively manage consumer insights budget to proactively address both immediate and forward-looking strategic needs

  • Communicate consumer insights in a clear and concise manner, both through written and verbal communication

  • Develop and enhance Consumer Insights standards and procedures for use company-wide

What you need to Succeed

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Marketing, Psychology, Marketing Research or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant consumer insights experience, preferably on manufacturer-side and with a branded, consumer-packaged-goods company, or combination of supplier-side and manufacturer-side experience. Innovation and Durables industry experience a plus.

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of marketing and market research fundamentals including qualitative and quantitative research design, and statistics.

  • Working knowledge of the following: Consumer and need state segmentation, profiling, and immersion; Concept/New Product Development and validation; Brand Positioning development and qualification; Market communication development and qualification

  • Proven success in leveraging consumer insights to drive business results. Must be able to develop objective point-of-view, be seen as strategic thought leader on team, and build constructive rapport with internal clients, agencies, and outside research suppliers.

  • Working knowledge of the following: Consumer and need state segmentation, profiling, and immersion; Concept/New Product Development and validation; Brand Positioning development and qualification; Market communication development and qualification

  • Excellent planning and project management skills.

  • Must be willing and able to travel, approximately 15%.

  • Advanced degree in Marketing, Psychology, Marketing Research or related field.
