The Challenge

The Principal Manufacturing Quality Engineer - Quality Subsystem Leader (QSL) develops and leads total quality ownership over an assigned subsystem, product and/or area and its related manufacturing operations. Specifically, this QSL role will be responsible for the quality of all plastic tub dishwashers manufactured in Louisville, KY. This includes multiple assembly lines, design platforms, and various skus.

What you will Do

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate all resources associated with Plant Profitability to meet quarterly goals for the subsystem/area. Work with Business Leader(s) to define quarterly goals and focus areas.

  • Work with team members from Manufacturing, Quality, Design and other support functions to define and implement projects and daily responsibilities to meet goals and metrics.

  • Overall oversight and coordination of problem solving process for related subsystem/area issues, including verification of the resolution.

  • Communicate actual metrics vs goals monthly through Cost of Quality reviews. Provide periodic quality updates to key Business Leaders.

  • Review external and internal data for leading indicators to initiate and implement countermeasure projects to ensure containment and resolution.

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly data monitoring, trend analysis (hazard plots)

  • Highlight negative trends and abnormal conditions, identify root cause, develop plans and procedure for resolution

  • Analyze SCR, Cost of Quality, Factory Yield data and top floor issues, identifying opportunities.

  • Own level 3 escalation issue resolution for any subsystem/area issue affecting quality. Elevate issues through escalation meetings and influence the priority of resources. Help set success metrics for projects. Facilitate on-time project execution and assist to address issues.

  • Facilitate the Manufacturing Control Plans (MCP) process to create, communicate and publish all documents. Ensure MCP documents are relevant and up-to-date. Coordinate resources to operationalize MCPs. Ensure MCP processes are followed during change control. Work with CIB chairman to ensure documentation meets ISO requirements.

  • Attend meetings related to change control, including CIB, FRACAS and manufacturing meetings.

  • Own and manage an assigned cost bucket for the plant (i.e. damage, concessions, insurance, scrap). Drive improvements and report out on it.

  • Attend daily escalation, production & floor meetings to understand issues & prioritize projects. Escalate to ensure timely resolution.

  • Communicate project status & timing with plant team. Manage floor & subsystem/area reviews ensuring projects are on schedule & deliverables will be met.

  • Lead and hold meetings, publish agendas and meeting notes

What you need to Succeed

Experience Required

  • Operations environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft office

  • Ability to analyze quality data

  • Ability to technical drawings and review specs

  • Strong cross functional communication

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with customers and operations

  • Familiar with gauging and other measurement tools

  • Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or 5+ years relevant experience

Preferred

  • Minitab experience

  • CMM experience

  • APQP PPAP

  • Knowledge of FMEAs and control plans
