Manager, Manufacturing Operations - Plastics
As a Manager, Manufacturing Operations - Plastics, you'll develop, manage, coach and provide technical support for a Plastic Injection processing high volume manufacturing line. Steer hourly Team Leaders and hourly Team Members to ensure continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost.
What you will Do
Manage, develop and coach a high-volume custom plastic injection processing small component manufacturing team.
Sound multitasking and prioritization skills to balance production needs.
Promote safety and ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures. Manage accident investigations using 5 Why to obtain root cause and achieve robust solutions.
Provide Plastic Injection Processing and Tooling technical troubleshooting expertise to area as needed to ensure schedule achievement.
Steer activities of cross-functional manufacturing team, to include direct responsibility for hourly team members and assigned business unit.
Responsible for operational performance and improvement of key metrics including safety, quality and culture.
First respondent to hourly Team Members for the central coordination of a specified area. Owner of hour by hour chart and direction of issues to respective Team Leaders to ensure standard work and escalation processes are followed.
Must know and align activities to support operational goals and priorities of the business and translate them to the team once a week via action planning report outs.
Monitor Quality and OEE data/reports to guide resolution of throughput issues and work projects to prevent future.
Manage to the production priorities from the Master Scheduler.
Troubleshooting of issues as being press, tooling and / or material root cause investigation.
Identify productivity opportunities.
Teaching robots using HMI.
Act as back-up for prioritizing tool room work orders.
What you need to Succeed
Minimum of 2 years or more leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
Ability to work with and manage through coaching team members at all levels of the organization to achieve operational results and positive union relations.
Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting high volume manufacturing equipment, plastic injection equipment and secondary manufacturing equipment.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills coupled with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Advanced computer skills – high proficiency in Microsoft products (especially Excel) and ability to grasp new systems quickly.
Proven project management and diagnostic problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to scope and diagnose cross-functional problems to generate and implement solutions.
High initiative, self-starter, proactive, dedicated, results oriented, a team player.
Occasional off-shift, on call and weekend work may be required.
Some travel may be required and up to 10%.
Knowledge of Appliances manufacturing processes.
Experience in controls, preventative maintenance, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatics and vibration welding technics.
Experience and training lean manufacturing practices.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
Quality Leadership Experience.
Expertise with injection molding tooling and 1500- and 3000-ton molding machines.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing practices.
10 years’ experience with high volume plastic injection molding and processing is desired.
