FirstBuild Software Engineering Co-op
FirstBuild, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Appliances, a Haier Company, serves as the entrepreneurial incubator for new product ideas and development for GE Appliances. By incorporating the philosophy of co-creation, coupled with an expansive social media environment, FirstBuild will bring ideas to reality for small scale initial market integration.
This co-op opportunity at FirstBuild will provide the student with a unique immersive experience to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and rapid-product development environment. This is a full-time co-op for the Spring 2019 semester.
What you will Learn & Do
Co-ops receive targeted training from seasoned engineers and participate in projects to develop them into well-rounded software engineers
Co-ops will write production code, participate in the design process, and will work alongside full-time engineers; this is not an opportunity to sit in the corner and run tests
What we do:
We work in a variety of environments from resource-constrained Arduino boards to Raspberry Pi’s
We use the industry-leading version control system Git
We are Agile!
We’re doing a lot of work towards making connected appliances — this means creating both highly debuggable platforms for development as well as enabling Internet of Things (IoT) functionality
What you need to Succeed
Qualifications / Requirements
Must be currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelors or better in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
Must have a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
This is a full-time (40hrs/week) coop assignment located in Louisville, KY
