The Engineering Technician is responsible for understanding the test standards, completing requested testing per the standard and documenting the results all per the lab’s ISO 17025 quality policies.
What you will Do
Responsible for coordinating the schedule (test, preventive maintenance, and calibration) to optimize output and meet priorities
Apply unique technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of appliances and related industry and regulatory standards to review test plans, develop test methods and then execute.
Apply technical expertise of instrumentation and test software to setup instrumentation and design new test fixtures to correctly apply the regulatory standard to the product under evaluation
Interpret results, prepare test documentation, review calibration reports to the lab’s ISO 17025 quality policies
Thorough understanding of applicable standards (UL, AHAM, CFR, CSA, ANSI, and IEC). Provide feedback on proposed changes and recommend changes to the lab equipment and processes for compliance to changes.
Train and educate new personnel (including technicians, engineers and interns). Participate in training both inside and outside of their areas of technical expertise
Maintain supplies, environment, and consumables to meet regulatory and lab policies
Move engineering samples between the test area, preparation area, and storage areas
What you need to Succeed
Thorough understanding of test equipment and instrumentation. Able to troubleshoot test setup, confirm required accuracy is met and knowledgeable of routine maintenance
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Attention to detail and time management skills to multitask to meet schedule
Thorough understanding of standards (UL, AHAM, CFR, ANSI.)
Proficient with Microsoft office products
Strong understanding of products (operation and failure modes)
Minimum 2 year vocational degree, Associate's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Computer Science, or related), or military equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience in appliance testing with emphasis on safety, energy and performance testing
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Computer Science, or related)
Experience in multiple product lines or labs
5 years’ experience in appliance testing with emphasis on safety, energy and performance testing
