The Challenge

The Cooking Products Advanced Systems Leader is responsible for leading the execution and development of the innovation strategy for the Cooking products group. This leader will be expected to both independently execute ideas/evaluations from concept through completion as well as direct and manage a team of Cooking Products advanced development engineers. This role will also plan to integrate innovation developments with the multigenerational technical and product plans for the Cooking business. The role will work both with internal and external resources and organizations to fill the innovation pipeline with viable features, products, and capabilities across existing and newly developed Cooking platforms. This role is located in Louisville, KY.

What you will Do

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead an advanced development team and create strategic plans focused on delivering innovations in a dynamic and challenging environment

  • Hands-on role: Candidate will be expected to work on his/her own innovation projects as well as provide guidance and direction for team members

  • Exceptional analytical/critical thinking abilities - must be able to analyze proposed technological solutions to not only understand how mechanisms work, but to also develop methods of effectively testing and evaluating technologies

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team: Must be adept at undertaking and completing tasks independently, meeting schedules and delivery timelines, and to moving swiftly from concepts and theory to technical feasibility

  • Strong oral communication skills - must be able to present findings to broad audiences inclusive of senior technology and business management, requiring the ability to explain complex technical matters in a way both technical and non-technical personnel can understand

  • Work within the Cooking micro enterprise and across product platforms to coordinate and integrate advanced development plans with new product introduction programs

  • Ability to collaborate with teams at all levels and across functions including outside entities such as universities, research and development organizations, and forge partnerships with other technology-oriented companies

  • Support product line intellectual property landscape; understand competitor offerings

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated technical design experience and capability

  • Design leadership experience; demonstrated ability to mentor and grow a team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience

  • Experience managing multiple technical developments at the same time

  • Experience in designing, qualifying, and improving of components and subsystems

  • Capable of working within a matrixed, multi-site design team structure

  • Effective team building and project management ability with a highly collaborative style

  • Takes ownership and has ability to drive decisions

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively across organizational lines and with all levels of the organization

  • Reliability training/background; practitioner status desired but not required

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in engineering

  • Demonstrated experience in product design

  • Experience in specifying requirements for and qualifying cooking related components

  • Significant experience with Cooking product development

  • Proven track record of developing innovative technologies from concept to proof of feasibility

  • Familiarity with code board standards and regulatory requirements as they apply to cooking products
