Design Engineer-Sensor Algorithm Development

The Challenge

This design engineer role within the Electrical Component Center-of-Excellence (COE) team is responsible for sensor algorithm development and implementation in electric and gas cooking appliances. This hands-on position requires creativity and technical competency to identify and develop cost effective and timely engineering solutions to meet key business metrics. He/she will own the process of designing, prototyping, testing, evaluating and implementing designs as part of the GEA change control process.

What you will Do

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Member of the Electrical Component COE team that develops and executes control algorithms for sensors and electrical components.

  • Design and execute evaluation plans to demonstrate design performance to required technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with software architect to develop control specifications based on algorithms developed in lab environment.

  • Collaborate with sensor engineer to root cause performance issues identified during the development process.

  • Demonstrate proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment to implement design into a high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Relocation assistance will be provided.

What you need to Succeed

Qualifications

Education

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering

Preferred

Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering

Experience

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years in control theory with knowledge of PID.

  • Self-starting leader with engineering design experience, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in programming language such as C, MatLab, Labview or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated passion for teamwork and above average verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced computer skills; high proficiency in Microsoft products and ability to grasp new systems quickly.

  • Some travel within southern US and Mexico to support team design and production activities (approximately 25%).

Preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years Labview development experience.

  • Design experience in consumer products.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma or equivalent experience with statistical tools.
